Business Intelligence Specialist

 

Position Description:

Uncommon Solutions is hiring a full-time BI specialist to join our growing team. You will work directly with Uncommon clients to leverage your experience implementing solutions using the Microsoft BI stack. You should be able to help translate business requirements into a solution design, and develop and deploy the solution. Candidates with a strong business analysis and requirements definition background would be ideal. Some of your responsibilities include:

 

  • Leading and developing data warehouse and business intelligence solutions utilizing the Microsoft BI platform and product stack (mainly SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, PowerPivot, and PowerView)
  • Datamart/Data warehouse modeling based on business requirements, and optimization of data models for business intelligence implementations
  • Maintaining existing data warehouse and business intelligence implementations (involving SQL Server 2012 or later tools)
  • Reporting including MDX query; Cube Development including MDX calculations
  • Leading meetings in preparation of project planning directly with client business users and sponsors, including requirements and architecture review, and project milestone sessions
  • Focusing and participating in developing and refining best practice for BI projects
  • Assisting sales team with technical presales help and proposal generation

Requirements:

  • Exceptional customer support and communication skills; ability to be collaborative with clients and think strategically when deploying solutions
  • Microsoft BI experience (Version 2012 or later):

o SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or other 3rd party BI tools

o ETL implementation using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

o BI presentation and developing analytic cubes utilizing SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)

  • Solid experience in PowerPivot and PowerView
  • Understanding of data warehouse design concepts (Inmon/Kimball-Star Schema)
  • Solid database background to support t-sql/stored procedure development and optimization
  • Logical and physical database design experience; RDBMS database development
  • Data Modeling tools: Visio, ERwin or similar data modeling tools
  • Solid experience utilizing SharePoint (2013 / O365) for BI Solutions including PerformancePoint Services, Excel Services, PowerPivot and PowerView

Database Administrator

 

Position Description:

The Database Administrator is accountable for the creation, maintenance and performance of the Relational Database System and all of its components. Under the direction of the DBA Team Leader, the DBA, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company database. This role is responsible for the smooth operation of the databases that use the customer and internal facing applications. This involves use of cutting edge technologies, industry-leading practices, process, and methodologies for deployment and upkeep of the system with demanding availability targets.

Requirements:

  • Instrumental in researching, evaluating, designing, testing, recommending, and planning Who we implementation of new versions of database and database tools

  • Facilitate database backup and recovery as well as documenting and testing all backup and recovery procedures.
  • Manage the physical data environment of the organization. Analyze, design, build and maintain databases and the database environment.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery procedures according to standards or implement and maintain Replication Services.
  • Investigate application response time issues. Provide solutions for performance improvements. Validate and test stored procedures before implementation in the production environment.
  • Design, implement and manage all database security to ensure integrity and consistency among the various database regions
