If your business has been going for a while you have a lot of data. Someone typed in every line of it. In many cases they had to type the same thing over and over, hopefully not making any mistakes. You’ve paid for every byte of data in your accounting system and all your databases – some data, you’ve paid for more than once.

Watching MacGyver, I realized something important about his solutions: they were all temporary. He built a duct tape and bamboo Go Kart to escape from terrorists, not for his daily commute to work. In web development, MacGyver-style solutions are common.

Internet Marketing might call for a new order for certain industries. Recently, I was speaking to a rep from one of the larger pay-per-click advertising firms. She has, at her fingertips, the monthly spend she recommends per industry in order to place in the top five paid ads for Google search.
