Why Uncommon?

A successful web strategy always includes a component of promoting traffic to your site as well as a component of serving the users who visit your site.  Our web development team has the toolsets, breadth of skill, depth of experience and knowledge you need to make your web site support your organization's goals.  There are limitless options for how to get there from here, the selection of which has more to do with what fits best than what is best.

The innovations that we most frequently apply to serve our clients tend to fall into one of the following three categories:

Look and Feel

The look and feel of a website is almost always the first thing we talk about with our clients.  If this is your top concern, we have partner organizations that we can connect you with for pure design and marketing.

Uncommon tends to take a more practical, ROI driven perspective on site aesthetics.  We are most successful with clients who agree that the look and feel of a site absolutely must exceed a minimum standard.  We typically recommend a site that looks professional, clean, fresh, current, and intuitive for the minimum investment possible.  Once we've accomplished that, we find diminishing returns on investments into site aesthetics.

However, there are exceptions to every rule.  You probably don't want a site that feels like it was designed in a past decade, unless you own a retro-diner.  You probably want a site that is clean, unless your target market is snowboarders.  You don't need to win awards for the artistic impression of your site, unless you run an Art Gallery or a high-end line of clothing.  For these kinds of exceptions, Uncommon brings the right resources to bear to address your uncommon needs.

Content
For every dollar spent on internet marketing and paid clicks, there is a site that received more traffic for free as a result of having current, high quality, relevant content.  Your site tells a story about who you are and what you do.

We all know a picture is worth a thousand words, so - of course - we use pictures.  However, search engines don't see pictures.  Visitors spend more time and convert into opportunities more readily when they read your words, watch your videos, comment on your blogs, or tag you on their Facebook pages.  So, Uncommon Solutions has an arsenal of tools and skills to fit your needs for managing both the content on your site and the processes that lead to its creation and publishing.  We have worked with dozens of content management systems, including:

Content Management Systems

Site Architectures

 DotNetNuke

 Mojo Portal

 Wordpress

 Drupal

 Joomla

 Sharepoint

 Microsoft .Net Framework

Open Source PHP / LAMP Stack

Standard HTML / CSS / Javascript

 AJAX / JSON / Web 2.0

Using the right combination of platform, tools, module implementation, customization, and implementation services, we have transformed our clients' websites into an online extension of their organizational identity that is available to serve their mission 24/7.

Functionality
The functionality of Uncommon's custom web sites is what really sets us apart.  By starting from a genuine desire to understand your business, we have helped our clients make the leap from:

  • A brochure site to a lead generation vehicle that collects leads and loads them directly into a client or sales automation database
  • An intranet page to an interactive and integrated knowledge base, discussion board, project management repository and time reporting system
  • A product listing site to a dynamic searchable catalog, shopping cart, and rating system
  • An eCommerce store into a transaction fulfillment automation system, with data feeding directly into an accounting system.

The breadth and depth of expertise that our team maintains in databases, programming languages, and platforms opens up endless possibilities for your site.  In addition to accurately representing your message and your look and feel, your site can actually conduct your business online.   With this broadened perspective, Uncommon has been a catalyst to its clients, saving them millions of dollars in operational expenses and helping them to grow and thrive, leveraging their people and technology into noteworthy profits.
